The Kurdish Film Festival is going into its eleventh round and in this festival edition we take a closer look at what has happened cinematically in the south of the country (in Kurdish: Bashur Kurdistan), in the last 20 years and just a heads’ up, there was a lot going on. The political realities of all three neighboring regions, as well as the consequences of the Iraq war on the country culminate here and give way for incredible stories. South Kurdish films are particularly close to a growing global instability and show how everyday life is experienced in this state of being.
Das Kurdische Filmfestival geht in die elfte Runde und in dieser Festivaledition schauen wir näher hin was im Süden des Landes, (zu kurdisch: Bashur Kurdistan,) filmisch in den letzten 20 Jahren entstanden ist und das vorweg, da lief so einiges. In der südkurdischen Filmkultur und Lebenswelt kulminieren die politischen Realitäten aller 3 Nachbarregionen, sowie die Folgen des Irakkriegs auf das Land. Südkurdische Filme weisen eine besondere Nähe zu einer sich ausbreitenden globalen Instabilität auf und zeigen darin wie sich der Alltag lebt.
